Name
Michael P Thompson
Major
Aerospace Engineering
Hometown
Plymouth, MN
AFROTC Involvement
I am the commander of the Drill Team and hold the position of Information Management in Arnold Air Society, a national honorary service organization comprised of AFROTC cadets nationwide. I am also involved in Honor Guard and recruiting team.
Career Goals
I hope to work in developmental engineering upon entering the Air Force, though I am also considering Space Ops, security forces, or Air Liaison Officer.
Favorite thing about Iowa State University
My favorite thing about Iowa State University would be walking home in the evening while the Campanile tolls. Central campus devoid of people is truly beautiful. Alternatively, walking across campus at 6:00 am is also beautiful, though at that point I’d really rather be asleep.
Fun fact about current classes
Physics 222 is Satan. The class is designed so no one can learn it. I am very much regretting not taking it over the summer.
Shout out
I’d like to give a shout out to my high school friend who helped influence my decision to join AFROTC, Midshipman Kaden Dohm. He helped me through the application process for AFROTC financial aid and motivated me to be set on participating in ROTC at Iowa State University.
Additional Comments
Cyclone Squadron is a place when I have a sense of belonging on campus. It is a place where hard work will move you forward.
